What we build
Restoration is the operating strategy. Returns are the outcome.
The insight most balance sheets have never met
In dry country, resting the land makes it worse. Animals, moved with discipline, make it better.
Oxidised grass and bare ground are warning signs. Most of the world's degraded land lies where rain comes in seasons. There, the first signs of desertification almost always have one of two causes: the animals were taken away, or they stayed too long in one place.
From bare ground to living grassland
Bare soil sheds rain. Hoof, dung and rest break the crust, so rain sinks in instead of running off.
Roots slow the water, the soil becomes a sponge, and the small water cycle begins again. Carrying capacity rises with it.
Dense, diverse and productive. Feeding animals, drawing carbon into the soil, worth more each year it is managed.
Three streams, in this order
Cattle and sheep on recovering grass. The primary income, and the tool of restoration itself.
Worth more alive than it was left depleted. Held, not flipped.
Verified, when they come. Never the case, always the extra.
No grants. The land pays for its own recovery.
Solar dollars
When money is worth nothing, the sun still shines. Grass grows. Cattle turn it into a product. We still earn an income we call solar dollars: dollars earned from sun, rain and management.
Measured, verified, reportable
